Feedback  guidelines.

When providing song feedback during meetings:
  1. Be respectful, but also be honest. Consider the songwriter's experience level and provide feedback based on where they are in their songwriting journey.
  2. Provide feedback based on what the songwriter needs. If it isn’t clear, ask them- what are you looking for?
  3. All suggestions given during ASA feedback sessions are considered supportive gifts to the songwriter as a part of the mission of our organization. The group feedback session is not intended to be a co-writing session.
  4. Learn by actively listening to feedback even if you don't have feedback yourself.

When Receiving Song Feedback
  1. To keep group feedback focused, state what you are looking for upfront. For instance, you may want help on lyrics, but you are happy with the melody, etc.
  2. It's a two way street when receiving feedback, requiring respect both ways to be effective. Keep an open mind and graciously accept the feedback offered by others.
